LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — North Las Vegas is booming, and many are noticing the growing changes as new development pops up on 215 and Revere Street.
So far in the area, there’s a shopping plaza with Wienerschnitzel, a dentist’s office, and plenty of open building spaces and even possible hints at a Walmart possibly being built too.
There’s also ongoing construction to put up a Smith’s grocery store off Dorrell Lane and Revere Street. According to a news release sent to 8 News Now, the $35.9 million Smith’s store will be built by R&O Construction and the surrounding shopping Center will be co-developed by Regal Homes. It is expected to be completed in 2027. There is currently a Smith’s nearby on Aliante Parkway and Deer Springs Way.
“Oh, it’s really nice. I like it, and it’s much better to get off the 215,” David Childers, who works in North Las Vegas said. “I like what they did to this park with the geese and they fly around and it’s nice looking. There’s another store a few blocks down where I work at so it’s really close together if I need to go to the other store and work.”
North Las Vegas Mayor Pamela Goynes-Brown says they’ve been working on developing that area for over a decade.
“It just shows the progress that we have been working on is finally coming to light and it’s phenomenal to see the growth,” explained Goynes-Brown. It absolutely helps to eliminate the food desert because people want choices, it’s nice to have a variety of choices that are accessible to you in a short distance in where you want to go.”
North Las Vegas is also developing a number of homes in new neighborhoods like this one behind me. It’s all part of revitalization efforts as the city continues to grow.
“What I’m hearing is excitement; people like the progress the city is making. They love Craig Road. They call it “restaurant road.” They love the development further going out north because it’s bringing communities together in safe spaces and it’s also providing amenities, whether it’s commercial or residential,” added Goynes-Brown. “I don’t have an exact date, as we get permits approved, shovels in the ground then those developers can dictate those timelines.”
Regal Tule Springs is a commercial development at the northwest corner of 215 and Revere Street, adding more shopping amenities. According to its website, it’s a 16-acre building space, anchored by a national grocer with a planned store size of 123,000 square feet along with a gas station.
“We need a lot more shopping in this area because if we didn’t, it congests other stores in the area and it makes it hard for parking,” Marti Kopittke lives in the area stated. “So, we definitely need it, so with the growth that we’re experiencing, those shopping areas are going to be very handy for us.”
