Still Time to Catch the Best of the Lazy 5 Summer Music Series

That’s why it’s called a practice. We have to practice a practice if it is to be of value.

The Lazy 5 Summer Music Series.

You likely have seen the signs posted in front of the Spanish Springs Library (perhaps, on many occassions!) or have even attended a free music concert
there yourself.

Five Reasons Why Children Need to Learn Yoga and Meditate

Yes, Spanish Springs’ residents can enjoy relaxing evenings
on Wednesdays at Lazy 5 Regional Park during the summer by stopping by to
listen to free music from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

Just take those low-backed lawn chairs, throw out a huge blanket
– or both – and settle in for an evening of delightful music. Coolers are
recommended, too.

It’s fun to enjoy the line-up of that evening’s band, and
you likely will, even if you aren’t familiar with the music, the tunes or the
genre.

You’ll recognize something.

On one recent July Wednesday, the band David Perez performed
a variety of tunes. The multi-member Latin-influenced band performed songs including
“Vamonos Gurija,” “Smooth” and “Oye Come Va,” all by Santana, as well as covered
“Tennessee Whiskey,” originally recorded by David Allen Coe.

Relaxing Ambience

The grassy lawn in front of and around the stage was packed
with families, friends and couples. Parents danced with toddlers right in front
of the band while a couple, who’d obviously taken a few dance lessons once or
twice in their lives and enjoyed moving in one another’s arms, danced the
evening away to the side of the stage.

Food trucks, including Lety’s Tacos and Super Swirl, served
hungry guests and people looking for a sweet treat.

Cub Scout Troop 443 members, identifiable in their beige-colored
uniforms, picked up trash in the general area while also emptying filled trash
cans.

Employees of Washoe County Parks walked around selling raffle
tickets. A soft breeze blew overhead, friends and family chatted with one
another, and the general aura of a relaxing summer evening permeated the area
along with the wafting tunes from the band.

Upcoming 2026 Summer Shows

The Lazy 5 Summer Music Series continues through Wed.,
August 12, meaning there are five more musical evenings to swing by and enjoy the
free music – at least, as of the posting of this article on SpanishSpringsToday.com

Those bands include Mighty Mike Schermer on July 15th;
Michael Tegio & Somethin’ Else on July 22; The Joey Carmon Band on July 29;
Jelly bread on August 5; and Escalade on August 12.

Parking is free. For the best spots, arrive at least 15 to
20 minutes early. Also, remember if you are traveling Southbound on Pyramid
Highway from the Eagle Canyon and Posada intersection area, you’ll need to head
down to Wingfield Hills Road and complete a U-turn to be able to turn right
into Lazy 5.

The Summer Music Series is in its 21st year at
the park. If you are still waiting to attend, keep in mind that it’s a great
week to get outside and slow down in the middle of the week.
